The following list of abbreviations reflect my interpretation of them, and may not be the most thorough list on the web.

I am open to the idea of including other definitions, so feel free to email your ideas to me. If you have a question, email that as well, and I will try to answer it with a future definition placed here.

Bonus

A change in price to an athlete's stock, rewarded (or penalized) as a result of that athlete's performance compared to per game estimates. Registers at 9:00 am ET.

Boni

Plural for Bonus.

Daily Re-set Tax

A 0.1% penalty assessed to every stock in your portfolio. Assessed at 4:00pm ET daily.

Day-trade

The practice of buying and selling stock on a daily basis for the purpose of maximizing portfolio value. Buys should be based on a player's performance THAT day.

Estimate

A "guess", by WSS, as to how many of any given statistic an athlete will attain in the upcoming (current) season. Based primarily upon past performance.

Estimates, outperforming of

When a player produces a higher number of a given statistic in a SINGLE GAME than his SINGLE GAME ESTIMATE.

IPO

"Initial Public Offering". When an athlete's stock is first made available.

Long-term (LT)

Buying a stock or mutual fund for the purpose of growth over a period of time.

Mooo

The period of time just after a buyable event where a given stock is being bought up at such a rate that the price begins to rise dramatically, yet steadily.

Monthly

Slang term for "Monthly Competition" or "Monthly Portfolio," as opposed to Long Term

Mutual Fund (MF)

Specialty group of stocks that are held as one commodity. Similar to real life mutual funds in that several individual stocks are held within the fund. Price reflects the average price per share of the stocks within it. Stocks included in a Mutual Fund are hel evenly; a 5-stock MF contains 20% of each. They are generally a better investment option for long term portfolios, than for day-traders.

Mutual Fund Value

The overall value of a mutual fund calculated when you multiply the MF Price by the Number of stocks (athletes) held within it. A number used to help determine the profitablity of an impending transaction.

Mutual Fund, Pre-Trade Value(PTV)

The overall value of a mutual fund calculated prior to a transaction.

Mutual Fund Value, After-Trade (ATV)

The overall value of a mutual fund calculated after a transaction.

Negative Mooo

The opposite of "mooo," above.

Newbie

Any one who is reading this. Guesser's Definition: Anyone who is still a little insecure about their own ability to be competitive in a monthly competition.

Performance

The final statistics of an athlete in a given game.

Portfolio

The place where all of your holdings (stocks, mutual funds) are kept.

Pre-Buy

The act (art) of buying shares of a stock in a given day before that player actually plays a game that day. This is True Speculation, where the opportunity to get maximum mooo exists, as well as the danger of a loss on a bad buy.

Split

The act of WSS dividing shares of a held stock into less expensive, but proportionately more abundant quantities. (i.e. In a 4-for1 split, the resultant price per share is 1/4 as much, but the reslutant quantity is 4x as much.)

Stock

A unit (share) of trade of an individual athlete.
NOTE: Unlike the real world stock market, there is an unlimited quantity of stock available for trade.

Trade

The act of buying or selling a share of stock or a mutual fund.

Transaction

An athlete's stock is added to, or removed from, a mutual fund.
